National Hug Day - 2011 National Hugging Day
National Hug Day - 2011 National Hugging Day. This event is an annual holiday occurring on January 21, officially recognized by the United States Patent and Trademark Office. The first National Hug Day was celebrated in 1986 in Caro, Michigan by Rev Kevin Zaborney. As it became popular it spread to Canada, England, Australia, Germany and Poland.
National Hug Day is an opportunity to put oneself aside and be in celebration and appreciation of another. Because hugging is something everyone can do and because it is a healthful form of touching, this day should be spent hugging anyone who will accept a hug, especially family and friends.
Did you ever hugged someone and they didn’t hug you back? How often has this happened? If it does, it’s probably because the person you hugged didn’t feel comfortable hugging back. Maybe they don’t know you that well or they don’t receive hugs often. Maybe they were caught off guard and just didn’t know how to respond.
