The Dallas Cowboys moved in 2008, and the building has been empty since. After six-months of planning, an 11-year-old boy won a writing contest and was the one chosen to set off the explosion early Sunday morning.

According to some reports, Jeffrey Jones was charged Wednesday with failing to update his registration as a sex offender in California. Jeffrey Jones was arrested on June 23 because he had refused to update state records within five days of his last birthday, which fell on Sept. 28, 2009. In 2003, Jones was arrested for possession of child pornography and employing a 14-year-old boy to pose for pornographic photographs. Jones pled no contest to the felony charges and was ordered to undergo counseling and register as a sex offender. In July 2004, he was arrested by Florida police after failing to notify them of his change of residence. He has since been sued in civil court by the minor, who is now an adult. Jones was charged on June 30, 2010, in Los Angeles, with failing to update his sex offender registration status, a felony.
